QUALITY

We are proud of our reputation as a "Quality Builder," and we strive to always maintain the highest quality in not only meeting our clients' expectations, but exceeding them. Quality begins in the preconstruction phase and must extend through the entire project. There is no substitute. In the teams' 250+ years of construction experience, we have strengthened our quality control processes so that today, we are second to none. We know that the success of any project depends on teamwork, and therefore we take an active role in coordinating with all members of the design team, and of course, the owner's representatives.

PRECONSTRUCTION

We believe that the preconstruction phase of any project is one of vital importance. This early, decisive phase will impact the entire project, affecting schedules and the overall quality of the finished project. Historically, Gerrits Construction, Inc. has been a key participant in preconstruction activities for most of our clients, which has enabled us to offer effective solutions regarding choice of materials, building systems, equipment, and methods of project delivery.
Some of the services we typically provide are:

  1. Attending project kick-off meeting to ascertain the owner's goals and objectives.
  2. Conduct project meetings with the owner, design team, and any other individuals as deemed necessary to deliver a quality project.
  3. Develop and continually update the budgets throughout the preconstruction phase.
  4. Develop project schedules identifying critical path, milestone dates and requirements for delivery and installation of furniture, fixtures, etc. Constantly update and monitor those schedules.
  5. Identify long lead items.

SAFETY

Safety is the most important component of any project-for our clients, employees, subcontractors and the public. Gerrits Construction, Inc. continually sets high standards for safety excellence. Our employees are constantly being trained and updated on the latest safety regulations. Gerrits Construction, Inc. constantly strives to have absolutely accident-free work sites, and by setting and enforcing the highest standards, we have achieved that goal and strive to do so, on every project we undertake.

SUBCONTRACTOR RELATIONSHIPS

Over the years, the Gerrits Construction, Inc. team has established a database of subcontractors who could resolve issues in any category that was conceivable. Each of Gerrits' team members has worked and lived in South Florida an average of 30 years, meaning there are not many subcontractors who have not crossed our path in one way or another. Subcontractors, like contractors, have a reputation to protect, so our efforts are focused on a select group of subcontractors in each field. However, what separates Gerrits Construction, Inc. from every other contractor's laundry list of subcontractors is that we have been able to establish a base group of three or four subcontractors in every facet of construction. These select subcontractors come to every project with the same "no change order, quality first, budget- and time-driven" philosophy that Gerrits Construction adheres to.
Gerrits Construction, Inc.'s relationship with local subcontractors extends to numerous SBE subcontractors. In some instances, we have provided financial assistance until these subcontractors were financially established. We have reaped rewards from seeing these subcontractors' successes continually grow and become formidable competitors.

MINORITY PARTICIPATION

Gerrits Construction, Inc.'s policies and procedures provide for the inclusion of quality minority subcontractors on all of our projects where possible. Our goal is to develop and maintain relationships with minority contractors, and to continue to develop effective and innovative M/WBE SBE programs that benefit us and our clients.
